New York - NBC Sports and the National Hockey League announced a partnership that will bring NHL games to the network beginning next season.
The agreement is for two years and was announced in New York City by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Dick Ebersol, Chairman, NBC Universal Sports & Olympics.
The deal would allow NBC (Channel 2) to broadcast seven regular season games starting next January and six playoff games on Saturdays. The network would also get rights to televise games three through seven of the Stanley Cup finals in primetime.
The partnership is subject to approval by the NHL Board of Governors.

If you remember the SABRES played a game against the Flyers on NBC last yr. this makes alot of sense Tom Golisano and Larry Quinn have said many times that the SABRES want to expand the SABRES fan base to outside of Toronto and NBC reaches to those cities that are outside of Toronto Empire did not. Could this be the end for the SABRES on Empire???
