I'm doing some cardio followed by some moderate free weights. Is weightlifting counter-productive to losing weight?

Muscle weighs more than fat, but it tones. You will still lose size, and look much fitter.

No they both burn calories and right now your all about getting fit so that's fine. If your already fit and looking to bulk up you'll want to do less cardio,

I do about 20 minutes to get warmed up, then I do weights.

That's a trick question.

Muscle is more dense than fat. So gaining muscle will actually add "weight."

But the more mean muscle mass you have, the more fat you will burn.

From my experience, and I think it's safe to assume everyone in this contest will be the same, you'll lose much more fat weight than weight gained from putting on any muscle.

I highly recommend some resistance training mixed in with cardio.

I thought we've been through this. No one around here needs any more mean muscle mass.
