wouldn't it be funny if we picked up Kenyatta walker?

If a vet backup QB was brought in-I could see Charlie Batch here- athletic, experienced, knows the system

it would be actually.. considering alot of people freaked when TD traded down instead of picking him.

Does Henderson have anything left?

Walker would be interesting.

id like to see walker here if it was at the right price, if not only as a backup job or insurance if jennings leaves. hes better than what we have now as far as backups go id have to say

We need another DE that can get to the QB... at least a 3rd down specialist.

we could use a Center and i don't see one on the list.:(

How about Joe Johnson...anything left in the tank?

Walker had all the tools at U. of Florida. I just think that he may be as dumb as a box of rocks. I wonder what his Wonderlic score was? 3? A score like that means that you are not even pottie trained yet.

Walker was the only name that jumped out at me when I read the list.

Kramer- is that a big or small box of rocks?

I'd take Jason Gildon in a second. He'd be an upgrade over Posey for the right price. A very strong pass rush is what he would provide....

I was thinking the same thing on Gildon I.S. With the Pitt background and TD being familiar with him it could happen.

If we are looking at a LB I would rather have Trotter he is only 27-28.

Trotter is an inside backer and not a pass rusher which is what this defense really needs. Plus he's gonna want big money and he really isn't even that good imo.

I guess but I would just rather have a guy who's going to here for a while instead of just a stop gap filler in Gildon.

Experience wins in the NFL. Trotter is being let go for reasons beside his salary cap number. He wasn't an effective player on one of the worst defensive front 7's in the leauge. Gildon is older, but he's overall a better player, and he's being let go because the Steelers need some dough., and they have an emerging Clark Haggins...GO AFTER GILDON....

I don't particularly like Trotter or Gilden.

We have other needs to spend money on.

Right on EE. Bills're fine at LB

Forget Trotter of Gildon. Actually, just forget June 1st cuts all together. You should be more interested in Schobel, Big Pat, and Jennings.

First of all I must admit that I was one of those guys who went crazy when we didn't take Walker. I was wrong. Joe Johnson is an intriguing name because he plays the run decent and he can rush the passer. Just another option at L/DE b/c I’m not positive McKenzie makes this team. I would only sign him at the rock bottom veteran minimum however.

I wish we could bring in another veteran guard also.

Agreed. Also Frank Middleton at G, and Zach Bronson at FS would intrigue my interest. If we were gonna sign a June 1 cut my top 3 would be like this.
1. Middleton G
2. Gildon OLB
3. Bronson FS

Signing Gildon would be similar to signing Milloy last year.

I like this ranking here. Nobody was saying anything about Middleton. Why not pick him up? He's pretty good ain't he? I have to admit, I haven't seen him play all that much though.

I'd give a look at Middleton to upgrade the interior of the line

Not a big fan of Middleton myself...cheap shot artist who ended Cowart's year for us in 2000. :cynic:

ScottLawrence

I would look at 2 players..... Frank Middleton or Bob Whitfield to play the LG position for us.

Both are an upgrade over what we have.

Canadian'eh!
05-31-2004, 09:48 AM
Middleton, and Bronson would be definate upgrades for us. Bronson is good but played on a horrible D last year.

Batch or Dilfer would be able to fill in as a backup quite well. batch being a cheaper option and a guy that would be able to let Losman take more 2nd team snaps later in the year as he shold have a descent grasp of the system already.

Gildon would be an upgrade but he's still gonna get more moeny than we have to spend from someone. Posey is good enough to not overspend on a guy with only a few productive years left.

Joe Johnson is god when he isn't hurt, which is never, but he is due for a comback year and if he was cheap enough he might be worth a 1 year incentive laiden, don't play don't pay type deal.

FB Henderson might be a better than Shelton too.

there are definately guys worth a look. plus there will be a couple surprises.
