BFZ Hockey League #2- Draft Analysis!

    4th and Long's Other Biitches

This team has some hight quality starters with a #1 line of Alexi Yasin, Shanahan, and Hejduk. On the Blue line his best blue liners are Adam Foote and Darryl Sydor. He also has the early league leader in +/- Boston's Nick Boynton.

Depth is an issue on this team. His Goaltending sports more T's than a miami souvineer shop.

Theodore and Thiabault were traded for each other 2 seasons ago. Theodore nearly willed the Canadians to a cup appearance. He looks to be back to earth this season.

Yashin and the Islanders are also off to a slow start. If they get Peca back soon, maybe he and the Isles take off. Who in the hell is Toskala? I don't think his parents even know...

    Sabre Ally

Ahhhh... Geeesh Ally! You should change the name of this team to the Sabre Bud Seligs... you are the commissioner who owns the last place team!

    Didn't you pre-rank your draft?

I'll be honest- Your Goalies don't suck...... because you don't have goalies! Now I love Manny Legace, I watched him play in person for years in the AHL and I'm estatic that he got his ring. But what about these other clowns? I cant see these guys getting more than 30 apperances= combined!!!

If Federov can keep images of Julio Iglesias out of his mind long enough, he could return to form with a strong year. Don't make the same mistake with Ronning this time around- you cut him in BFZ#1 and he's been scoring like crazy since.

You have more people on your defense team than Bill Clinton.. you might want to trade some of that depth for a Goalie...or a cardboard cutout of a Goalie.....Or even that Beer drinking Bear in the commercials that plays goalie...

      Atomic Junkyard Dogs- Mcurchfie

Looks like you have some work ahead of you church! The king of BFZ smack will have a tough time of it . Better trade in the dancing Avatar of Ricky Williams for one of a dancing LUBOMIR SERKAS!

Modano will be strong, and I think Bertuzzi will have a career year. Jovanovski leads an otherwise non descript blue line.

You have some quality depth in between the pipes with team Sweden's starting rotation. All 3 are off to a decent start so you might want to get with Ally and bolster your D for one of those netminders....

        bbors

Looking strong at the top of the roster, bbors is stought at center with Sundin and Thornton. Darcey Tucker is a versitile player who can contribute as well. Simon Gagne will also quietly rack up some points behind a star studded Flyer offense.

Pronger's injury really hurts this team as they lack depth on the blue line. Roman Turek shares goaltending duties with Disney on Ice, Martin "Goofy" Gerber and Jean sebastian "Pluto"Giguere.

Guess what team boxers this kid wears?

An all sabre or ex- sabre lineup. ........Isn't this cute!

The new NHL rules were supposed to open up the Ice for the speedy Sabre wingers. They got off to a great start with 11 goals in the first 2 games, but they got zippo since! And now the Sabres hit the road for the month.

Gratton and Satan look good out of the box, and Mogilny is on a tear. If the Sabres hit a stretch (like they do every year) where they can only muster 2 goals a game for a month, this team will be doomed. But hey, everyone laughed at the guys who picked Bledsoe, Moulds, Price, Henry, Hollis......

Are we doing the ZB pot in this one?

I wouldn't mind doing it here with more people in this one.

              Blame Canada casdhf

Interesting mix of players. Topping the charts are his all star wings of Paul Kariya and preseason ranked #1 player in Jerome Igilna. Michal Handzus could be the hidden gem on this team. He had a pair of goals ( one shorthanded) in a rout of the Canadiens this week.

Nice mix on the D line, and Turco will be a stud in goal. Irbe is losing starts to Weeks in Carolina. Curtis Sanford will be back inthe AHL as soon as Johnston gets healthy and Barasso gets off the plane.

                Clumping Platletes

Clump's chumps have some real firepower on the front lines. Sakic is a top centerman and he's flanked by Bure, Guerin, and Ron Brind'Amour. A hidden gem on this squad is Andrew Brunnette, as he is on the Wild's top line. The Wild could be the suprise team in the West.

If I were Clump I would be a bit concerned with his thin D. But then again, if I were Clump, I'd be quarrantined at some vet clinic.

Goaltending looks solid, Chechmanik will post a lot of wins. The guy he replaced in Philly, Brian Boucher, will be a busy guy in Pheonix replacing the injured Sean Burke this month.

                  Dozerdogs

I know the BFZ season hasn't started yet and we have 75 games to go in the season. But right at this moment, the Dozerdogs own the top of the charts.

5 of the top 6 players currently on rosters are Dozerdogs. Leading the pack is #1 C-Mario Lemieux, #3C- Vaclav prospal, #4 RW- Aleskey Morozof, #10 LW- John Leclair, and # 12 -D- Dan Boyle.

Now I know that some of these guys might fade, but behind them are C- Lindros, and 3 of the most exciting young players in the game, Lecavilier, Gaborik, and Kovalchuck.

The D is decent as well. And to top it off, he's got a pair of goalies that should start 125 games and garner 45 -50 wins.

This team has quality depth at all positions, including penalty minutes!

                      Peace Bridge Bombers Earthquake Enyart

Withj the exception of Jiri Lehtinin and Vincent Damphousse, The Peace Bridge Bombers are off to a slow start in the goal scoring department. However, Matthew Barnaby leads the way in penalty minutes. Barnaby also is off to a quick start in the scoring department (for his standard, anyway) with 3 in 9 games for the Rangers.

The Bombers have an excellent Blue line corps, one of the best in BFZ#2. The Goaltending situation went from bad to good overnight, with Nabokov signing in San Jose and Barasso shoring up a Blues netminding situation that has seen 5 goalies used in the first 5 games.

What will Earthquake do with his team favorite Theo Fleury? That loud thump you just heard was the Bomber's team bus running over Theo as he left the local AA meeting. The next 3 thumps you heard was Earthquake putting the bus in reverse-forward-reverse to finish the job.

                        East Bay Sharks.. MissBuffalo

Peter Forsberg leads this banged up squad that features a lot of toughness. Sami Kapanen will contribute 30 goals this year. One thing is for sure, don't park in Miss Buffalo's space at the arena or you might get an unplesant visit Donald Brashear, Pete Worrell, and Sean Hill. This team is selling cans of whupass by the case.

Injuries and holdouts are hurting this team, however. Dafoe remains unemployed, and Daze and McCammond are out of the lineup.

Since the Ranger's Darius Kasperitis got a hair cut this season, the Shark's Mike Ricci has jumped to the forefront as the NHL's ugliest player.

                          Puckheads BironsGirl43

The Puckheadsa main strength is center. Allison, Kovelev, and Martin St Louis are off to blistering starts. Plus, they have Stevey Y in the wings getting healthy from injury, the steady Jozeph Stumple and Jason Arnott also in the middle. It's an embarassment of riches. Let's not forget the veteran Brett Hull.

Defese looks strong, but they will need a few more guys. Kravchuck isn't around.

In Goal, Puckheads have 3 solid starters. Richter has been victimized by a swiss cheese team in front of him, Bret Johnson is hurt but when he returns next month , he will get the majority of Starts. The early success of this team will rest on Felix Potvin.

This trio will have to be thick skinned, however. Rumor has it that the Puckheads locker room is plastered "I love Marty" posters. Suck it up, boys!

                            Rochester Sabres Mike 32282

While not saddled with superstars, this team looks solid at the top. The talent and depth is evenly distributed throughout the lineup. Glen Murray had 40 goals last season, and is on his way to repeating that feat.

The Goaltending situation does look interesting. Lalime is a solid start, Luogo will probably start close to 70 games this year, and Divas is out with an injury. A little bit of quality, a little bit of quantity.

                              Kind Sharks lordofgun

Maybe this collection of talent will finally shed the "Fantasy sports Loser" noose from around LoG's neck. Or maybe it's the change in names from "Mean" to "Kind". Who knows.

Roenick has a boatload of talented wingers to help in the scoring department. Sellanne, Palffy, and Markus Naslund will light the lamp often.

Sergei Zubov is one of the best blueliners in the league, but after Jonsson the Kind Sharks need some help.

I really like the goalies on this team. 3 talented workhorses who shoulder the bulk of their team's games. Quantity and Quality. If LoG is confident that the Lightning and Wild are for real this season (a combined record of 10-1-3 ), he might want to consider helping out his Blue line situation with a trade with Sabre Selig's goalie poor but defense rich squad.
