Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced that Daniel Paille has agreed to terms to a three-year NHL entry-level contract. As is club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are very excited about Daniel Paille agreeing to terms,” stated Regier. “Through his experience as captain for Team Canada at the World Juniors this past year and his play for Guelph Storm, we believe that Daniel will bring a great deal of talent and character to our organization.”

Paille, who was selected by the Sabres in the first round (20th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, led Team Canada to a silver medal in the 2004 IIHF World Juniors, scoring four goals and posting a +1 plus/minus rating in six games. Paille has been no stranger to success at the international level, winning silver with Team Canada at the 2003 World Junior Championship, gold at the 2001 Six Nations Under 18 Cup and bronze at the 2000-01 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge.

Sabre fans should be happy we have quite a bit of very good youth coming up. Daniel Paille to me seems a lot like Michael Peca except with more offensive skill, a very good signing.:beers:
