Should Andre Reed be in the HOF? Poll at www.buffalobills.com

What are your thoughts? I definitely think so he's 4th all time in receptions I think and 5th in receiving yards.

I can only hope that Losman--->Evans is 1/2 as great as Kelly--->Reed....damn I miss seeing that!

The Kelly to Reed connection is legendary. Unlike Moulds, who I respect tremendously, Reed was consistent year after year. HOF is coming Andre.

Yes he does. The question is, will he be in the HOF? And why isn't Art Monk there, yet?

Absolutely. He's got the stats, he played on a ver good time, and was one of the best in the game for a good 5-6 yrs.

Because a lot of WRs have been having to wait to get in. Andre deserves to get in on the first ballot but I'd bet the 50,000 zonebucks that LOG owes me that he'll have to wait a few years. Lofton was a couple of years late getting in himself.

Art Monk and Andre have about the same number of receptions. Henry Ellard has more receiving yards than Andre. Neither of them is in the HOF.

I don't think it's a mortal lock, like some of you do. It may take him a few years to get in.

Not in my opinion but I exoect many Bills fans disagree. He will take at least 10 years to get in.

i think it will take awhile also
...

After bruce, and thurman.....Reed will be in the hall about 6- 10 years from now

I think he should be nominated, has the stats to get in, but I don't think he will get in because of the way people outside of Buffalo see him. The unforgettable throwing of the helmet in the Super Bowl, and his disappearance in 4 Super Bowls may hold him out.

They don't go by personality or character. They let LT in on the first ballot. On-field performance alone dictates who gets into the HOF in Canton and judging by that, he should be guaranteed a spot.

I say he gets in but most definetly not 1st Ballot. If he goes in before Art Monk somebody needs to cry foul!

His personality and character won't hold him out. The image of him throwing his helmet and the 4 Super Bowl losses will make it difficult. IMO, he was the best Bill's receiver ever.
If anyone should go in it should be Thurman Thomas. He lead the league for how many years in overall yards gained.

Art Monk-
16 years/ 940 receptions/ 12,721 yds / 68 TDs,

*4 super bowls, 3 rings

Henry Ellard

17 years/ 814 receptions / 13,777 yards / 65 TDs

Andre Reed

16 years / 951 receptions / 13,198 yds / 87 TDs

Andre Reed averaged a hair more receptions per season, more yards per season, and way more TDs per season then both of these guys.

Monk should be in, and Reed. Ellard is on the fence.

I don't think he makes it in. When people think about dominating WRs in the 90s, Andre gets passed over for names like Rice, Irvin, Sharpe and Cris Carter. While I think Andre deserves it, there are too many other players that have more exposure.

Rice is one of the top 5 football PLAYERS of all time, not just WR- But Irvin and Sharpe line up behind Reed- neither had the durability.

and what do those guys have in common? High level media coverage that Buffalo just doesn't provide. The football writers who vote for the HOF are the best around...that know the top players in the league regardless of market size. They should be booted off the committee if they don't vote in one of the greatest WRs over the past two decades. It'll likely take a few years, like with James Lofton, but Andre will get in.

ellard's numbers would have been a little better if the Rams didn't have an All-Pro OL and eric dickerson.i think he should be in the HOF.
