John Clayton just said on ESPNEWS that Gildon will likely decide by tuesday. it's between Buffalo, Green Bay, and Cinncy. he said gildon would play defensive end on each team if he was picked up

It could come down to if Cinci or GB would let him start at DE.. I thought he didn't have the size to play DE? That is a positive for the Bills.

At first I thought cincy had him, but now that it has taken so long and the fact he said he would play DE tells me that he will choose us. I mean, he has a real shot at starting at LDE with us and we have alot better D than Cincy or GreenBay...1 + 1 = 2....If he does sign with us then I sure hope he can adjust to playing with his hand down, and stopping the run. I expect atleast 7 sacks and if he does then it would be better than Kelsay or Denny sack total. Plus I do have faith in Kelsay, I just think he will take some more time to learn to play that DE spot. So sign Gildon to a 2-3 year deal( 3rd year optional) and let Kelsay have about 1/3rd of the plays(more on running situations) and slowly increase his plays every year until he is ready to play every down(2006) and unleash the pup, and by then Gildon will be done and he can retire with back to back SuperBowl Championships):pow: Man I can't wait:2guns:

I hope we get him he will be a big improvement on an already great defense. And he will also give us good depth at linebacker in case 1 of our starters were to get hurt god forbid but it happens.

Agreed, and if a plan like that works, you're a genius. Gildon would be an excellent addition. The only downside that I see here is that Kelsay could become the Coy Wire of 2004. If Gildon does come in, it would be similar to the signing of Lawyer Milloy IMO. I'm not saying that's bad at all, in fact, Wire sitting for a year could be a blessing in disguise, as well could Kelsay.

I have conditional faith in our backup LBs. I think it's time for Crowell to at least show us a bit why he was a 3rd round pick.
With Gildon signed, we could literally play 3-4 or 4-3 with the same personnel. Let's see how many offenses can figure that one out in time. I'm sure that will be a point that will be exploited if Gray gets Gildon.

Gildon is not strong enough to play DE!... He can even take on TE's and FB's what makes you think he can take on Tackles?

I don't see why we are intrested in signing him.

jason taylor and bruce smith both played/play every down at 265.. i would say size wouldnt be an issue.. especially on pure passing downs.

so you have been watching him at the gym? how could you possibly know what kind of strength he possesses? he was a strong side LB.. you know.. the one who takes on TEs and FBs.. and made the probowl doing it.

Good point once again. He would be a welcome addition to our team and I believe he would excel at the DE position. He is defintely strong enough and fast enough to do it, IMO.

Gildon has always been a big LB, I believe he played at around 260Lbs. I don't see how you can say that he can't take on FBs or TEs, he probably was one of the better LBs at doing it. He would be a great addition as long as he didn't cost too much.
