I'm a fin fan but also a BAMA fan. I was wondering how SHAUD WILLIAMS looked so far? I don't like the Bills but I hope he makes your team.

From all accounts we have received he is doing pretty well. I think he may have a shot at making the team. He will have to excel at special teams for at least this year most likely though but he was a very good runner when I watched him in college.

Wasn't he the guy who was interviewed on the Ali G show? Man that was hilarious.

His competition is Joe Burns, Ken Simonton, Antonio Brown, and Jonathon Smith, and maybe Clarence Coleman. He could make the final squad by beating out Simonton and Burns as a third RB, or Brown, Smith, and Coleman as a return specialist. Neither is an impossible task. Schaud Williams is not particularly fast, but has good quickness and was very productive in college. Burns was productive in college, but seems like a plodder to me who is eminently beatable IMO. Simonton was also very productive in college and tore up NFL Europe a season ago. On paper he has averything Williams has and maybe more speed. He might be tough to beat out even though he did nothing for the Bills last season.

In the returner competition, Antonio Brown wowed fans in preseason last year and laid an egg in the regular season. He has great speed, but lacked discipline. Discipline can be learned. If Brown can show in this preseason that he can be disciplined he may be tough to displace. Coleman did not get too much of a look as a returner last year, but did not embarrass himself when he had a chance. Jonathon Smith was drafted. That means in theory that the Bills had him higher rated than Williams as a returner. That is automatically an extra hurcle. If two players are roughly equal in their camp evaluation, teams will go with the draft choice every time. Williams has top be a very clear winner to beat out Smith.
