Trade for Cornelius Bennett ranks closely with the Bledsoe deal

Hard to rank them, we haven't seen what Bledsoe will do as a Bill.

What about the Jim Kelly deal?

Ebenezer

the trade was for the pick...not for Kelly...if the pick was a bust would that be the worst trade in team history...no.

Yeah, well it was Jim Kelly.

You're telling me that trading Walker wasn't one of the best moves the Cowboys ever made? They drafted Emmitt Smith, but he could have been a bust, so it doesn't count.

Ebenezer

Fine....then vote other! It still wasn't the best ever.

Jim Kelly was drafted with a choice acquired as part of the either the OJ to SF OR Cousineau to Cleveland trade. I believe that trade could be included above :)

Yeah but we traded ruutu and beuregard for one of the best players in the history of the league. ruutu had like 1 goal the entire season before.

I think the Bledsoe deal will prove to be the best deal in Buffalo sports history. The Pats will get a very good player for it, but Drew's performance and attitude will allow us to have access to a few free agents that are looking for a ring, and I think that will happen in 2004. It's been a perfect fit so far, and I think the future will make it more obvious. Drew Bledsoe; Buffalo Bill. Sounds good.

The more the Bills win, the better this trade gets.

Imagine....Drew Bledsoe for a #32 first round pick!!!

The Pats will just trade it away to move up and get another Tight End

He was picked with a draft pick I believe was obtained from the 49ers as part of the trade that sent OJ to San Francisco.

It was. When Cousineau came back from the CFL, we traded him to Cleveland for their 1st rd pick in the 1983 Draft.

the best trade that the BILLS made was when they traded paul seymour to the STEELERS for frank lewis.seymour failed his physical in pittsburgh and lewis had some productive years in buffalo.

I agree w/ 4th and think that it's a bit premature for us to start talking about the Bledsoe trade as the greatest ever. Anything can happen. He can sustain another injury, perhaps career ending. He can not play as well next year or the year after. He's playing very well and anyone would expect him to continue to, but until he does, he needs to have a couple of solid seasons.

Also, if Gilbride eventually realizes that there are two components to an offense, namely a rushing game too, then perhaps Drews numbers will fall some if Henry becomes a top back in this league. That would be good for the team while at the same time reducing Drew's numbers/stats. I wouldn't say that that would alter how good he is, but it may influence some peoples views.

As it now stands, Drew's gotta be the starter for the AFC Pro Bowl team. That would be the first time that he'd be a starter in the PB!!

Drew Bledsoe is by far the greatest trade we have had. The Results are already here. 5-3!!!!!!!!

The OJ trade where we picked up 2 #1's and 2 #2's that built the defense (Haslett, Conlan, Smerlas) for those early 80's playoff teams.

Clarification:

In 1978, the Bills traded OJ to the 49ers for a slew of draft picks, including the one used in 1979 to draft Tom Cousineau. In 1982, the Bills traded Cousineau to Cleveland for picks, including the one used to get Jim Kelly.

So, the OJ trade is connected to the drafting of Jim Kelly, albeit not directly.
