Bills Boards Combined Fantasy Football Leagues

Well it’s that magical time of year again - Fantasy Football time!!

This year we’ve got an exciting twist to introduce: the Bills Boards Combined Fantasy Football Leagues. Members of both the BFZ and BBI sites will compete head-to-head to be champions of their league. Prizes will be awarded in the form of Zonebucks/Buffalo Chips. Each league requires a registration fee (in Bucks or Chips) from each player. The registration fee and prize will be different for each league. The winner(s) get to decide which site(s) to take their prize from.

All leagues are live draft on the Yahoo site and have the following standard league configurations, unless otherwise noted:

Waiver period: 2 days
Trade ruling: 1/3 of owners object to overturn

Playoff teams: 8, Wks 14-16
Format: Head-to-Head
First place: 20,000 Bucks/Chips + registration fees
Second place: 10,000 Bucks/Chips
Third place: 2500 Bucks/Chips
Fourth place: 1000 Bucks/Chips

League 4 - High Stakes Total Points
Draft date/time: Tue Sep 7 9:30pm
Registration Fee: 1000 Bucks/Chips
Format: Total Points
First place: 20,000 Bucks/Chips + registration fees
Second place: 10,000 Bucks/Chips
Third place: 2500 Bucks/Chips
Fourth place: 1000 Bucks/Chips

League Rules/Terms:
1. Players can join as many leagues as they like provided they have the registration fee. If the leagues fill up there may be more created later.
2. Players promise to stay active in the league, except under extenuating circumstances (i.e. a serious illness, life changing event, converted to Amish and now electronics are Satan’s tools, etc.).
2. Players promise to not drop out of the league within two (2) weeks (firm) prior to the draft date.
3. Players promise to not attempt to cheat in any manner, including collusion in any way with another coach, attempting to control more than one team in the league, intentionally dropping players or agreeing to poor trades if my team becomes mathematically ineligible for the playoffs/league prizes.
4. Commissioner is an administrative function ONLY, judgment calls are limited to when there is no other option, which should be very rare.

1. Donate the registration fee to me (Halbert). Use a separate donation transaction for each league you wish to join (don’t combine them). Make sure you indicate which league you are donating the registration fee for in the donation description (ie. “League 2 - Standard Total Points”).
2. Donations can come from either site. If you’re short on Bucks/Chips and want to pay via a combination from both sites that’s ok, but please only do that if you have to (too confusing for a dope like me).
3. When I’ve received the total registration fee I’ll send you sign-up information.

** Note: Because the BFZ Zonebuck (ZB) feature currently isn’t available while they make updates to their site, for those who plan to use ZB’s please follow this procedure in the meantime:
1. Send me a PM (private message) stating your interest and intention of joining a league. Make sure you are specific which league you intend to join.
2. I will keep a list of people who have “registered” in this manner, in the order they came in. I will make this list public by posting it in this thread.
3. Make sure you register this way even if it looks like there are enough people already in the queue because I guarantee there will be people who don’t sign up after they said they would.
4. When the ZB feature is available again I will send out requests for the registration fees in the order of the registration queue and allow 24 hours for a response.
5. Once a fee is received, people have 24 hours to sign up before people lower in the queue are invited to continue.
6. I will limit BBI members to half the league spots until BFZ members have had their chance to sign up.

Right now you can't because that feature isn't currently working, that's why there are instructions to send me a PM to be put into a registration queue. Read the announcement at the very bottom.

I didn't want to wait any longer to make the announcement because I didn't want the prime draft times to fill up or to have too many people already in leagues.

League 2 - Standard Total Points

Hey I just had an idea.

It seems that people highly prefer the head-to-head leagues over the Total Points ones.

So how about if we did both H2H and Total Points for each league? The Yahoo site would maintain the primary league and we could do the other secondary league manually. That would mean we'd effectively have 8 leagues, giving more chances for everyone to win something. It would also avoid the fairly common occurance of somebody scoring the highest points in the league and still missing the playoffs.

The only drawback I can see is that the waiver process wouldn't synchronize with the secondary league, which would only be a big difference in rare cases so it's not that big of a deal. Tracking the secondary leagues manually would be easy, I could take care of that.

What do you think?

That's OK. Somebody from BBI (ROOK33 I think) must have joined right when you dropped out because I was only counting the number of teams in the league and missed you dropping out.

But it messes up my goal to balance BBI/BFZ members in each league. I'll see if I can get some BFZ people to join that one. Overall we look really good and balanced, otherwise.

We could try moving it to 9:00 and see if that would mess up anybody else. That would be enough time for you to get most of your rounds in and you could set up your queue before you leave to make the rest of your picks for you. Would that work?

9 might work better, but you might wanna make sure everyone on the sites can do 9pm eastern. It is pretty late for a draft. I figured it would be at 6 or 7...or even in the afternoon. But if I have to, I'll take off work. :snicker:
