Outside linebacker Jason Gildon, the most prolific sack artist in Steelers history, will attempt to resurrect his career with the Buffalo Bills and the front-office executive who brought him into the NFL.
Gildon, who will be 32 next week, has verbally agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Bills. The deal includes a signing bonus of $500,000, and an additional $500,000 in performance incentives.
The Steelers drafted Gildon with their third-round draft choice in 1994 when Bills president Tom Donahoe was their director of football operations. Gildon led or shared the team lead in sacks from 1998-2002, and set the franchise career mark last year with 77. He recorded six sacks last season, his lowest total since 1997.
