    Gildon set to join Bills

Outside linebacker Jason Gildon, the most prolific sack artist in Steelers history, will attempt to resurrect his career with the Buffalo Bills and the front-office executive who brought him into the NFL.

Gildon, who will be 32 next week, has verbally agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Bills. The deal includes a signing bonus of $500,000, and an additional $500,000 in performance incentives.

The Steelers drafted Gildon with their third-round draft choice in 1994 when Bills president Tom Donahoe was their director of football operations. Gildon led or shared the team lead in sacks from 1998-2002, and set the franchise career mark last year with 77. He recorded six sacks last season, his lowest total since 1997.

Isn't the word "resurrect" I little melodramatic? He might not be mr. double digit sacks anymore but it's not like he sucked last season. He'll earn his money, at least.

Is Gildon putting Posey on the bench now??

How is this looking to work out? Will he be a DE?

I believe they will both get shots at LB and DE at some point in the camps to see where they are best utilized. Looks like an interesting situation.

I think we paid to much for a 32 year old LB in the twilight of his career.

            I don't
We really didnt give him that much. If he is used as more of a situational player he might be able to stay fresh and just focus on getting to the qb.

it gives us options... we all know our DE's suck, maybe the answer is putting a LB in a 3 point and letting him T off on the QB... much like Bryce Paup if I remember correctly.

I didn't think we needed him but it seem that we got him quite cheap.

He has said he would play end if needed and this could give us the option of lining up in a 3-4 sometimes.

The idea should be to put the best 11 on the field - and that might just include Gildon.

I can't wait to see how this turns out.

He won't be starting LB... He will probably come in on passing downs and play LDE.

                    Thats about it.

Did you guys know that Gildon is the same size as O-gun and Kearse? And the same weight but 2 pounds lighter than Jason Taylor. And those are the only 3 I checked.

he is not being signed under the vet's minimum exclusion clauses...his SB is too much and he has incentives...

Posey was ok in my book. At the very least, Gildon can provide depth. At the best, he can be the passrusher we lack.
