View Full Version : Did you all see where Libya wants to join the WTO??

Now, what would you rather have....
A. Libya blowing up more airplanes and developing a nuclear program in secret?
or
B. Libya coming clean on it's past activities and admitting it's wrongdoing and taking a new course as a nation state?
Now think what caused this sudden change of heart by Libya. Suddenly the Iraq war doesn't look the same, does it?

Libya and Quadafi (sp?) has been softening up for years. I read an article in National Geographic about that years ago.

I don't think invading Iraq made them want to join the WTO. I think having a 3rd world economy had a lot to do with it.
They have as much Oil as Kuwait- but they have the standard of living that would only make trailer park trash Dolphin fans jelous.
They have been trying to get in good with the west for a while now.

Last time I checked, Libya was considered part of the Mid-east. After all, it's populated by Arabs, is it not?
Yeah, and Toronto's in Idaho

Whatever, moron. Obviously the geographics of the Mideast region is beyond your mental capacity. :shakeno:
So I guess we should toss Israel out of the 'middle east' by your definition.
And I guess Indonesia (Asia) should be part of the 'middle east' because they have Arabs, too.
What about Dearborn ?

That's funny D, according to at least 10 seperate reports I've read, unless the Jewish state finds a way to solve the Palestinean issue, Jews will be a MINORITY by 2015.
Hardly the 81% you claim.
I didn't claim, I quoted...follow the link.
I didn't think the KKK has their 10 reports on a website, but I guess you learn something new every day.

Just the other day there was link on YAHOO about how Israel was headed towards being a minority Jewish state.
Go look it up. it's out there for all to read.
81% is a joke and you know it.

time to turn off Starship Troopers...AWM, I'll give you that invading Iraq may have pushed Qaddafi over the edge (he's old and getting soft) but outlandish statements (and sorry, but they are) don't help your argument.

I remember learning in school that Africa is so much bigger than North America but sometimes on maps, esp. older ones, they make North America appear to be larger than Africa.

Did you also know that the Egyptians were black?
Invaders shot off the noses of the Sphinx and all the other structures built because they had black noses.
Tripoli is very close to Sicily. Do you think Khaddaffy is a made man ?

I remember watching an episode of West Wing and part of it was about how all maps are false and that the Geographic Society of America (or whatever it was called) wanted to use a new map that showed how all the countries were in proportion. Like they say that Greenland is shown roughly the size of North America. I think this was at least partially true.

Thank you. I was not referring to a continent like everybody seems to think, just a region, and Libya fits the Mid-East demographics more than it does any other.
Irregardless, the point I made was that Ghadafi (sp?) came clean when we got off our lazy arses and did something.
I'll leave the geography arguements for others. :D

Cher I know this will cofound your blond female sensabilities but Countries that
1) Promote terrorism against us
2) work on devolping WMD's
3) Support and aid terrorists
are a threat against us. You don't need a large army to be a threat, or have missles aimed at us to be a threat. The war we are in now is not traditional, though at times it may use traditional methods at times.

I know there are a lot of countries that have at least one of those as criteria and many have two. So, I guess we should start invading a lot more of them.
Libya hasn't been a real threat since they were bombed in the Reagan years.

I was often bombed near the end of the Reagan years...
Before you start thumping yourself on the back too hard...
Quadaffi started the process to get UN sanctions lifted waaaay before the Iraq invasion. The UN suspended their sanctions in 1999 but the US kept theirs up. Libya used the Pan Am 103 multi billion dollar lawsuit to squeeze the US into letting up on their sanctions, i.e. you screw us, then the (mostly American) victims don't get the money they're legally entitled to. Once the sacntions were released, then Libya paid up earlier this year. Sorry, you got played by a playah...
If applying for WTO status was in any way related to the Iraq war, Bush would be trumpeting it so loud you'd go deaf. Anyone with reasonable intelligence understands that they'd get ripped apart if they took that stance, because once confronted with the facts, timelines, etc., you'd realize that 2+2=4, even in North Africa.
