Amazing stuff. I read that Losman has no signing bonus this year. If that is true then he is playing for the league minimum. Evans is reported to have a $2.2 mil signing bonus (which would be divided by 6 years)...that means his cap hit is only $366,667 this year.

For what I have dug up the cap hits look like this:

Losman:
2004 230000.00 (right now it is actually zero because he is not one of the top 51 but when he makes the team it will count)

Depending on the other bonuses the actual final cap hit will change. However, these are incredible contracts for the Bills. TD did a mighty fine job getting them under contract.

Len Pasquarelli reported that Evans deal contained an initial SB and 2 option bonuses. His total guaranteed monies are $5.586M and his contract could reach $24.58M with incentives and escalators.

The Buffalo News reported Evans deal had a $2.2M SB and a $4.2M option bonus next year.

Evans contract is for 6 years, but the last year if voidable so it is really a 5-year deal.

Losman's deal may not contact a SB (I have not heard terms), but it likely contains other guaranteeds in the form of roster, option or reporting bonuses.

The $4.2M does sound high. However, the $5.586M in guarantees Pasquarelli reports is probably pretty accurate. Pasquarelli says there are 2 option bonus' in addition to the $2.2M up front.

No, and it looks like a long-term holdout.

The Pats want him to accept a 6-year deal, but he only wants to sign for 5 years. They got Wilfork, Seymour and Warren to accept that length on their rookie deals, and state it is a team mandate that 1st round picks sign for 6 years. Graham (1st round 2002) is the only 1st round pick signed for 5 years. The Patriots haven't ever done voidable deals.

I can't really blame Watson for his stance. Only one 1st round pick slotted in the lower quarter of the 1st round since 1993 has signed for more than 5 years, so the Patriots' stance is unusual. Also, Watson is slightly overaged (23), so he will be 29 by the time he hits free agency if he signs for 6 years.

However, both sides are being pretty stubborn about it, and a resolution is not in sight. Nobody is questioning the Pats front office because of all the goodwill they have stored up from their recent success, and the fact they are returning both Fauria and Graham. However, one would think it is in their best interest to sign Watson and get him in.

The Pats have until the 10th week of the season to sign Watson. After that, he will b ineligible to play. After that, he does have the option of re-entering the draft.

The information provided in the previous posts is the same that I have.

I suspect that Losman rec'd a roster bonus with his salary, otherwise, there is no way the Bills came within $1,000 of there rookie pool of slightly more than $3.64 million (NOT the reported $4+ million the Buff News had).

Watson fired his agent, Tom Condon. He got a waiver from the NFLPA on the 5-day rule (a player is required to wait 5 days after firing an agent before a new one can be used) and picked Pay Dye as his new agent (he also represented 5th-round pick P.K. Sam). Dye and Jack Mula (who negotiates contracts for the Pats) are meeting tonight and he should be signed in the next couple of days.
