He called a QB draw on JP Losman's first play. I love it!! Get the kid in there and get him ready to play. Make sure he knows he is not going to be babied and needs to learn now!!

"The only thing (Mularkey) told me was, "This play we're about to call, J.P., you'll remember for the rest of your life,' " Losman said. "I didn't know what they were going to call, and they ended up calling a quarterback draw. We started laughing because I kind of knew it was going to be that play.

"He asked me if I was ready to run. I said, "Oh yeah, I'm ready.' But as soon as the play started my legs felt like quicksand or something because I couldn't move."

Losman didn't show it as he frantically scrambled up the middle for 5 yards before Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams laid a big hit on him and officially welcomed him to the NFL.

"He got tattooed pretty good by the defenders," Mularkey said. "I think it was a wake-up call that this is a different level and a big deal of hits are at a greater speed with more velocity and strength."

Mularkey has impressed me so far. He's not running a resport like Marv used to, but he's not blowing an airhorn in guys's faces either, like Man-boobs did. He treats players like men, and, in return, expects them to play like men. That's effective coaching and getting players to respond to your coaching is key.

I like him too... but my friend (who is a huge Steelers fan) warned me one thing about him... he likes to call gadget plays on 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 2...

God, please no

I bet that was Bill Cowher imposing his will on Mularkey.

there was a lot of running on 3rd and 3 or fewer yards. He may be the head coach but it sounds like Tom Clements will be in charge of the play calling. BTW, did anybody see the 2 or 3 plays where they had 3 players in the backfield (without anybody going in motion).

He had to. He had nothing else going for him on the Steelers roster.

He's not Gregg Williams and thats all I need!

Mularkey has impressed me from Day One.

I also think Losman will be an amazing NFL QB in the future.

He has surrounded himself with a great coaching staff and continues to impress me more and more each day. It is early but he definitely seems to push all the right buttons.

I think my favorite thing about MM is that he seems like one of us. He looks, acts, and talks like one of the guys and he seems to have a great sense of humor

Agreed. We haven't had a young "fiery" coach since....well.....ever.

Levy was special, but since then it's been:

:fatkid:
Wade "Fatass who won't wear headphones" Phillips

:chief:
Gregg "Manboobs make me stupid" Williams

I love guys like Gruden, Cowher and Tice, so hopefully MM is another of that ilk.
