The only reason I would use the tag if I were the Bills is if they know they'll have a deal in place and just need to buy some negotiating time.

I don't like the idea of using the franchise tag at all ... and top-5 money for Schoebel for next season is not worthwhile (top-5 money over the life of a multi-year deal, maybe, but not for next year).

Off the top of my head I'd take any of the following for a single season before Schoebel:
Strahan
Rice
Taylor
Freeney
Ellis
Abraham
Little
Rucker
Peppers
