I've seen such brilliant Miami capologists like WCoastFin thumbing their noses at the Bills for their inability to sign Mike Williams- well- TC is now in full swing and ther Bills signed all 10 picks- while Miami, with a measley 5 picks can't sign their top pick, 3rd rounder Seth McKinney.

I think the fish are on the verge of cap collapse.

The Miami cap situation is similar to the one the Bills had before the 1999 season. Way over the cap but still enough cap flexibility to have a competitive team. However, much of that flexiblity is gone and this up coming off-season will be more difficult. They will once again be way over the cap and already have over $6 million "dead cap". They also have major concerns on both lines and potential new deal for Ricky Williams. A lot of cap space is devoted to a handful of players and all are on defense. The next couple of seasons will be tough ones for the Doll-Felons cap :chuckle:

Thanks for the good comparisons Dozer and Clump.

This will be costly to the Fins. Lets hope it hurts them in more ways than one. Ricky will prove to be the downfall for the team, economically.

The more they let Wannstadt in on the personel decisions, the faster they will fall. He destroyed the Bears when he was the coach here.

No kidding. Why do so many coaches feel they are qualified to be in charge of personnel these days?

According to the transaction section of the this page...Seth has been signed...

I also feel that in the long run we have improved our D-line immensely by releasing Gardener. His injury issues and atittude were on the rise while his talent was on the decline. He have more solid players and better depth. Although, I still wish we had Mixon...

Gardener's cap is very high this year but by releasing him I believe it is gone for next year which will help use a lot. We don't need to give Ricky a new deal, he is signed for another 3 or 4 years. His contract is great for us and sucks for him, but we will give him one in two years. Also, Tim Ruddy counts a lot against the cap and McKinney will be his replacement so he is gone after this year. Our cap situation isn't bad for 2003, unlike the Oakland Raiders who are something like 50 million over for that year lol

Gardener only counts $1.28 million vs the 2002 cap and $6.4 million vs 2003 cap. His cap number would have been slightly less than $6.4 million if he had remained on the roster, so his release now saved just under $3 million in 2002 cap dollars BUT actually costs about $300,000 more in 2003. Not that difficult to manage......but Miami is already over the 2003 cap

The release of DG gave the dolphins alot of Cap space and plan to re-sign alot of their starters.....

Mckinney is now signed.....And I see you compared the bills signings to ours....well Mckinney was a 3rd rounder therefore we were in no rush of signing him....heck, he isnt even going to start!.....On the other hand the bills finally signed mikey,a 1st round supposed starter.

I guess it is always good to turn lemons into lemonade! "Our draft picks suck, so we are in no hurry to sign them." Sweeeet!
