Team officials could not give a timetable for Milloy's return but Milloy expressed optimism that he could play in the regular-season opener on Sept. 12 against Jacksonville.

Coy Wire will start in his place in Thursday's final preseason game at Detroit.

"I've been pretty fortunate in my career to be able to avoid injuries," said Milloy, who has never missed a game in eight seasons, a stretch of 137 games. "I'm going to let the doctors do their thing and then I'm going to prepare for Jacksonville like I'll be the starter."
