This morning, Stewart Scott was on ESPN Radio. He said himself, Michael Irvin, Chris Mortensen, and some other football guys at ESPN were arguing about the greatest WRs of all time.

Here's Michael Irvin's top 3 WRs of all time:
1. Jerry Rice
2. Andre Reed
3. Michael Irvin

obviously the coke he is doing now is a little more potent to put himself in the top 3.

What about Steve Largent, or Art Monk, or Stallworth, Swann. Many others are much better then he ever was.

Neither Stallworth or Swann had stats anywhere near what Irvin did.

I think Irvin was one of the best of all time.

Here is the Comparison

Player Receptions Yards TDs
Irvin 750 11904 65
Swann 336 5462 51
Stallworth 537 8723 63
Andre 951 13198 87

How the Hell did Swann Make the Hall of fame??? He never had a season with more that 880 yards. Reed Blows them all out of the water.

How can you guys forget Lofton????

I was surprised when he listed Reed, but a strong argument can be made. As for including himself, it was the pinnacle of conceit. But he did laugh . . . it was a funny moment, if only b/c he laughed at himself.

I'd make the case for Largent, Monk, Lofton, or Carter before Irvin. A lot of his yards were gained by pushing off or launching himself upwards using defenders' shoulder pads; he probably has the most non-penalties of any player in history.

Art Monk, 888, 120261 and 65 TD's

Lance Alworth 542 10266 85

Lynn Swann 336 5462 51 (NOT EVEN CLOSE)

John Stallworth 537 8723 63

Don Hutson 488 16.4 99

Charlie Joiner 750 12146 65

Andre’s numbers are better than all of these guys. He slipped towards the end and that’s what we remember. It’s just another example of how Buffalo fans don’t appreciate what we have and what we had.

Listening to Sports talk Radio is rotting my brain.

I swear that if the defense comes together and we win the Superbowl this year ala the Baltimore Ravens a few years ago, a good portion of Bills fans will say we didn’t deserve it and we’re not really that good and that Bledsoe sucks and he had nothing to do with it.

Running the Backers thing has exposed me to some of the worst types of fans ever. It's sickening.

Although a few of us got together on Sunday night to watch the game on NFL Network. I guess only cooler guys showed up, because we were all in agreement and all ragging on the negative fans. Talking it out with like-minded people was real good therapy! No kidding!!!! I was starting to get real sick of some fans...

Look beyond just numbers. You can't use straight numbers to compare players from different eras. I remember them mentioning that Peyton Manning is the only Colt QB to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. Does that make him their greatest QB ever? Not even close.

There was a time when ESPN interviewed John Unitas (the greatest QB to ever play the game, IMO) about how many yards did he think he could throw for in this era of 3/4/5 WRs. He thought about it for a few seconds, then said, matter-of-factly, "...about 4 or 5 thousand." Does anyone think he couldn't?

Yeah and in that era, DEs weighed about 195 pounds.

It’s frustrating. I just want to watch football and watch my team win! But nowadays everybody thinks they’re GM’s and coaches.

The media, they now cover football like they used to cover politics. And they never believe anything the players or management say. Around here, if TD says something, the guys on the radio doubt him every single time. What gives?

And everytime you turn around I hear fans say, “I’m worried about this, or I’m worried about that” Why don’t you just enjoy the game instead of worrying about something you can’t change.

Did we really need 5 days of discussion on Troy Vincent hitting JP? I mean this is football isn’t it? It’s not like the guy was in the D huddle and said, “I’m going to break this guys leg.” Naw he gave him a nice little wake up call. It just so happens he broke his leg. It’s not Ballet it’s ****** football!!!

The best part is that if JP didn’t break his leg, and got the message and started sliding we’d all be calling Vincent a team leader right now.

True, athletes are superior today than they were in the past. Just as today's athlete use superior training facilities and techniques, so would any of those who played in the past were they playing in this era. Do you really believe that if Jim Brown were playing in the 90s instead of the 60s, he wouldn't be more athletically advanced? You really think he'd play just as he did in his era?

michael was one of the very best of his time, fast, big, strong, athletic,clutch/intangibles.if michael never got hurt,he woud have gone WAY over the 1000 catch total and dwarfed a LOT of receiving records of other players(e×cept rice). and would have easilty gone past nearly all of reeds totals.

I'll definitely be there when the season starts. Will be great to watch the game with Bills fans and not have to hear f**king Gints/Jets fans yapping away. :yap:

And watching the games on a dedicated big screen WITH SOUND will be great as well. Usually places only have audio on the Gints/Jets game, with the Bills game on a crappy smaller TV built circa 1987 with the volume off.
