It did not come as a surprise, nor did it come as an insult, to Josh Reed that the Buffalo Bills picked wide receiver Lee Evans in the first round of the 2004 draft.

In fact, Reed was the first Buffalo player to welcome to the team the man who was going to be bidding to take away his starting job this season.

"It wasn't any pressure, I was happy he was here," Reed said Wednesday after the Bills concluded practice inside their fieldhouse on One Bills Drive. "The coaches told me we might be picking a receiver and I called him up and I never had any hard feelings. He's a Bill and he's bringing another dimension to the team."

Coming off a disappointing sophomore season with the Bills, Reed could have easily viewed the selection of Evans as an indictment of his play. Instead, he took it as a challenge to improve his performance, and coach Mike Mularkey loved that attitude.
