Chris Kelsay will start at left defensive end and Josh Reed will start at wide receiver in Sunday's season opener against Jacksonville.

Both players are expected to do a lot of "time sharing" at their positions. Ryan Denney will see plenty of time at defensive end, and Lee Evans figures to see a lot of plays at receiver.

"Any time you bust your tail every day for a month or two months or six months, to get rewarded at the end is very nice," Kelsay said of his promotion to the first unit. "Ryan and I complement each other well. During camp the competition kept us motivated and kept us pushing each other."

Coach Mike Mularkey said he intends to start Denney for Week Two in Oakland.

Reed, who alternated series with Evans in preseason, has enjoyed a strong summer catching the ball.

Kelsay and Denney might as well be clones. Should call them Left End A and Left End B.

Coach Mularkey - "Hey Left End B, you're in!"
"Hey Left End A, nice tackle! Whoops sorry, that was you who did that, B."

Am I the only one who doesn't think too highly of Reed, or Kelsay, or Denney, or Bannan or ANY OF OUR TIGHT ENDS.....or Pucillo or Tucker or???
There are others too.....just un-inspiring players....Guys we probably will not remember as even being on the team in 15 years....

Watching football is like watching pornography. There's plenty of action, and I can't take my eyes off it, but when it's over, I wonder why the hell I spent an afternoon doing it."

Thats so true ... God sometimes I regret the way I spend my Sundays!!!

Yeah, my whole clone DE rant was my way of saying Denney and Kelsay are both cream-of-the-crap level players. Reed isn't too impressive either but I'm hoping he makes a mark in the KR game, better than Antonio "Bust" Brown.

i dont feel that way at all.

i think that kelsay has shown alot of improvement, and by years end, he will look like a young schobel, that will have 6-8 sacks and give us alot of hope for our future, especially now that schobel is locked down for another 5 years.

denny is a good run stopper.. he has also improved his pass rushing, but i think that kelsay just has more potential. i dont mind denny as a back up at all.

i still firmly believe that reed is going to be a beast. reed, evans, and aiken are our future... and i am happy with that. reed WILL excel in KR as well.

bannan needs to show a bit more this year, but has done thing to get himself cut.

guys just dont develope over night.. especially 4th round DTs.

i think all of them will be very good players.

Bannan is looked as a hybred DE-DT by Bills. A player who can move a little faster than a DT but sturdier that a DE on run. He is a good player but not a starter player in my opinion but fits in well with modern DL rotation schemes.

Last year they kept 5 DEs and 4 DTs and this year we are keeping 5 DTs and 4 DEs because of that flexibility.
