    Strong, silent type

    No matter what happens in the Raiders' home opener today, Sam Wyche, the Buffalo quarterbacks coach, will be able to make a better exit after the game than the last time he coached in Oakland.

    That was in 1981, when Wyche was the 49ers' quarterbacks coach, and, after the final exhibition game, he got into a heated argument with Raiders' assistant Charley Sumner walking off the field in Oakland.

    Sumner then punched Wyche in the mouth.

    For years, Wyche has joked about that incident, saying, "It wasn't the most triumphant exit."
