An Amtrack train bound for Union Station in Washington, DC has derailed in Kensington, Maryland (not too far from where I am) a little after 2pm this afternoon. Six of the eleven cars are off the track and on their side. Rescue workers have been called from neighboring counties to help get to the people in these cars. No word on injuries and or fatalities at this time.

Shouldn't they get the people out of the cars? :D

Wise guy! lol You know what I meant.

Ticat, I was thinking the same thing. There seems to be a lot of Amtrack derailments. More than plane crashes, yet people prefer to take the train. Ut oh, is our train gonna derail?

More details are available. There were 12 cars in the train and 11 of them derailed and turned over. There are 190 passengers and 12 crew onboard. And according to reports, there haven't been any fatalities. :) Obviously news is still coming since rescue workers are on the scene, but all early reports have been positive so far. Hopefully no one has died in this accident.

We should still feel bad for that poor train. Please pray for the train.

I normally don't pray for inanimate objects. I'll pray for the passengers and I'll leave the train in your hands. :)

Inanimate objects?! You're not the type of person that gives your car a name, are you. My car's name is Bob. :D

When surveyed, the most popular name for cars was Bob, followed by piece of @#$#.

Ally, no, I don't have a name for my car. Never have, probably never will. :)

God, I don't pray to win the lottery, I hope a lot. And as far as Doug goes, well, yeah, I pray a little for him at times, but he's hardly inanimate. lol :)

It was a pretty bad wreck, traffic and our MARC commuter line are screwed up. According to the reports 90 people have been injured and there are no fatalities. They're going to do an investigation but they think the excessive heat caused the tracks to buckle. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
