TD has now had 4 drafts as GM and President of this organization. I took a few minutes to put his picks into perspective. Guys who are top contributors, imo, are in bold ('04 guys I think will be).
2001:
Nate Clements – Good CB, but has played below expectations.
Aaron Schobel – He’s been invisible since signing his big $ extension.
Travis Henry – Has been a warrior with the production, but for some reason they still picked Willis in ’03.
Ron Edwards - Bust
Jonas Jennings – Has been a good LT when healthy, but often isn’t.
Brandon Spoon – Gone.
Marques Sullivan - Gone
Tony Driver - Gone
Dan O’Leary - Gone
Jimmy Williams – Who?
Reggie Germany – Hurt, then gone.
Tyrone Robertson – a pick from a Junior college?
2002:
Mike Williams – Has been a bust so far.
Josh Reed – Has been a bust so far.
Ryan Denney - Bust
Coy Wire – Can’t cover, which is pretty important when playing either safety position. Bust.
Justin Bannan - Bust
Kevin Thomas – Looking pretty good when he gets opportunities.
Mike Pucillo – I need not even comment
Rodney Wright - Gone
Jarrett Ferguson – non-factor
Dominique Stevenson – back-up.
2003:
Willis McGahee – hurt year 1, underutilized year 2 (so far).
Chris Kelsay – Jury’s out
Angelo Crowell – back-up
Terrence McGee – Could be special. Needs to see the field more.
Sam Aiken – hurt year 1; 2 catches today. We shall see.
Ben Sobieski – No need to comment
Lauvale Sape - No need to comment
Mario Haggan - No need to comment
2004 (still too early):
Lee Evans – Looked really good in today’s first half
J.P.Losman – This is where our hope is right now
Tim Anderson – Jury’s out. Back up right now.
Tim Euhus – Jury’s out, but seemed kind of wimpy to me today.
Dylan McFarland – Longshot. Don’t expect much
Jonathan Smith – Who?
A few okay picks, but far from spectacular. Hopefully, '04 will be his best one - starting with Evans and Losman.
