View Full Version : Who is going to cover Tony Gonzales?

Sure isn't going to be Robinson.
Don't think Wire can do it.
Jenkins?

Maybe they go to some 4-2-5 with Jenkins on Gonzales and Wire up by the line like a LB?

 Indeed!

Who's gonna stop Holmes?

:D

First one to 50 wins...! :D

First team to have to punt loses.

I don't know about that. SF and KC kind of cancelled each other out yesterday. Watch those films!!! Gonzalez was invisible.

That being said the only joy I can take from this is that I have Gonzalez on my fantasy team.

S.F. has a very good defense. We have a very horrible defense.

It actually concerns me a bit that K.C. was able to contain S.F. to only 17 points on their own field.

K.C. has held two decent offenses to only 27 points over the past two weeks. Couple that with our offense having only put up 47 over the past three weeks and there should be some concerns.

SF has good LB's and safeties. We don't.

Holmes and Gonzales will horribly expose our LB's.

But, not to worry, our Tennessee geniuses have has 2 weeks to figure this out.

I'm expecting both teams to score 30 (if our offense gets off the schneid).

I'm thinkin' perhaps even 40s. If the Raiders could light us up for 49 on many dropped home-run balls by Rice, I cringe at what K.C. can do if they're on.

We'll have to double up on our resource allocation to stop Holmes and Gonzalez. It may take two Ss to cover TG. That will open up their passing game and generate some man-to-mans that have me concerned as well. Their WRs are only average and for sure are not the main reasons for their success. But they've proven that they can be capable and relied upon when needed.

Bottom line: We aren't going to win this game by stopping K.C. We'll simply have to outscore them. IMO it's highly unreasonable to think that K.C. won't have at least 35 or 38 points. So we'll simply need to keep pace and outpace them on O.

It will be bad if Holmes has 250 yards rushing and they can control the clock. Gilbride is gonna have to make some use of Henry here in order to have a shot at a win. We just can't always have 2:30 drives.

Green and Kennison are nowhere near the threat as Gannon/Rice/Brown. Im not worried about KC goin deep to WR's especially with Winfield back in the lineup (if he is gonna be back). Gonzales and Holmes are the real threat. Holmes comes out of the backfeild as a reciever ALOT. I think we should stick Wire on him somehow and just hope that Green cant get the ball to the best TE in the game. I think the one thing that SF got away from yesterday that would of made them a heck of a lot more successful, was the deep pass. They almost looked like the Patsies there for a while. I'm not worried about puttin points up, just worried bout keepin the points off. Im just keepin my fingers crossed that this bye week has done somethin for our D

I think we are gonna do some good things on D, we might get Green to make a mistake or two.

KC is most vulnerable on D to the deep pass, I like our chances.

No one will cover Tony Gonzalez. He will have 100+ yards and 2 TDs.

Based on the choices, think we should take our chances with  Shelby.

I don't think anyone will be covering Gonzalez. At least that's the way things have been with our defense all season why change now?

That would take some clever defensive scheming.....

Bills always get stomped in KC, this year will be no different.
Expect huge games from Gonzalez and Holmes.
Hopefully we can score some points to keep it respectable.

Put Watson on him.

TigerJ
11-12-2002, 09:25 PM
Watson might not be a bad choice. He's had some OK games. He can cover a whole lot better than Robinson and he's our tallest DB. In fact he's as tall as Robinson, and GW says "he's our most athletic CB." I think I would put two guys on Gonzalez though, Robinson to jam him near the line and a DB to pick up when Robinson falls on his behind.

Out of the guys that can cover Gonzalez, Polk might be a good bet. He has the size (hopefully enough) and he can cover somewhat. he is also young so he should be able to keep up for the duration of the game. Maybe going into a 3-4 every once and awhile can disrupt things Just keep your best guy on Gonzalez with help from the safty, shut him down, give him a good bump off the line. and never lose sight of stopping Priest Holmes.
