There is a chance Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Andre Goodman will play against the New York Jets this weekend despite a broken thumb.

Goodman, who was injured in Detroit's 40-14 loss to Green Bay on Sunday, was examined by a hand surgeon Monday morning and does not need surgery.

Goodman is a situational player anyway. He doesn't play 40% of the plays. He could play with a cast on his arm and be just as effective. He probably will.

The Lions have no defensive backs. Their best defensive back is a 6th round rookie. Lyght isn't any good unless he can get away with holding and one of two usable safeties is hurt. They have Eric Davis and Kerlin Blaise playing safety. No, you read that right.

On top of that they have one linebacker and a couple of hacks. Barrett Green get's more sucker punches than tackles a game. Gooch is a pansy. The second best linebacker is some guy they picked up midseason named Curry. He's been there 3 games and he's already better than Green, who's been there three years.

It get's worse. They don't have any receivers. None. Hakim is a trick play specialist who'll make a lucky big play one out of four games. He drops more than he catches. Schroeder will only catch it if he's wide open and nobody around. That is, if he doesn't have a sore hair. Crowell's the third receiver. Rumor has it he'll be walking soon.

Nevertheless, I'll make a prediction.
