Defensive lineman Chidi Ahanotu didn't report to the Dolphins on Wednesday in hopes of being released or traded.
Ahanotu, a 12-year veteran signed at the end of the preseason, said the decision stemmed from the desire to join a team that would give him more playing time. Ahanotu took part in significant snaps in only one of the first five games.
"I could get paid for doing nothing, but I'm not like that," said Ahanotu, who had signed a one-year, $760,000 contract. "I don't play for the money. I play because I love to play the game, and I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel that this organization has me being a major part of the team."
