In the season opener at Columbus, the Sabres built a 4-1 lead. But the Bluejackets came back, and cut the lead to one. But Buffalo answered, scoring four more goals to win the season opener 8-3. Miro Satan and Max Afinogenov each scored two goals. Marty Biron got the win in goal.
Saturday night, the schedule has Buffalo opening at home against New Jersey.
