DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - The Miami Dolphins terminated the contract of safety Antuan Edwards, who started eight games this season, but gave no reason Wednesday.

Edwards, 27, made 45 tackles and one sack after winning the job in training camp from Arturo Freeman. Edwards was in his first year with the Dolphins after spending his first three NFL seasons with Green Bay.
The roster move is the first since Jim Bates took over as interim head coach when Dave Wannstedt resigned Tuesday.

Freeman is the leading candidate to start when the Dolphins play Seattle on Nov. 21.

The Dolphins (1-8) also reached an injury settlement with kicker Matt Bryant, who went 3-for-3 on field goals while Olindo Mare recovered from an injured calf. Bryant missed Sunday's 24-23 loss to Arizona with a right quadriceps injury and was replaced by Bill Gramatica, who missed an extra point and was cut Tuesday.

Mare, who practiced kicking during Wednesday's practice, now is the only kicker on the roster.

I'm not sure. But did you hear that the team president and owner both tried to convince Wanny to stay?

That would have been great it they were able to. Many fin fans would have been out for blood. :snicker:
