The Jets won the toss and deferred to the Bills to choose whether to kick or receive. The Bills chose to receive. At the start of the 2nd half, the team LOSING the coin toss gets the choice of kicking or receiving. The Bills chose the latter.

The Jets won the toss so they elected to start the game facing a certain way.
The deal is, the team that wins the toss can elect to receive, kick, or choose a goal to defend. The Jets chose the goal to defend. The team that loses the toss, as well as getting the remaining choice, is basically the winner of the toss for the second half...(if there was one)..Bills chose to receive both times
