The NFL always play the Lions and Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Should they always play these teams or would you rather see it mixed up and have different teams play on Thanksgiving?

work's for me...in fact I would like to see a prime time game added on a third network with, say, Buffalo or Green Bay or some other cold weather team as the home team.

I would love a Thursday night game and have some nice leftovers watching the game.

The Bills last played on Thanksgiving Day...

Nov. 24, 1994
DETROIT LIONS 35, Buffalo Bills 21

It's time for a rematch.

It's kinda good that crappy teams play on Thanksgiving, because there is so much inane conversations with relatives that you can't really watch it anyway.

That's true, I never thought about it like that.

Doesn't really matter to me either way but if I had a choice I'd like them to mix the teams up every year.

P. Manning vs. Harrington
Manning is going to light up the Lions and then of course he'll stay in for the 4th quarter to pad his stats and keep getting more TDs to get closer to Marino's record. :snicker:

I'm more offended by the choice of the Cowboys than anything else. The Lions playing Thanksgiving was a tradition that went back decades. Then the NFL in all its wisdom, and as yet another way to shove "America's team" down our throats added the 'Boys (that designation always offended the hell outa me - until the 90's run a TON of teams won more than the Cowboys yet they're "America's team").

that's not exactly true...in the 60s the league wanted to have a second game on Turkey Day...The Cowboys stepped up and volunteered when nobody else wanted it...this was before they were "America's Team".

Thanks for the clarification - I just get hypersensitive about the Cowboys 'cause I can't stand the attitude of the team and its fans. I rooted like hell for you guys in SB 27 and 28

in fact if you look back the Thanksgiving day game was almost always Green Bay v. Detroit...it was a gimmick to sell tix.

How come the St Louis Cardinals played the other game in 1975, 1976, and 1977?

Dallas started playing on Thanksgiving in 1966...Dallas did not play in 75 or 77...don't know why the Cards played....

It's the 1 Lions game i watch a year. I like The Lions every thanksgiving but the Dallas game i wouldn't mind a change. But i like tradition.

I wouldn't tamper with the tradition of the two daytime games, but there is certainly room for a Thursday night game where the teams and venue could change each year

I say change it. We shouldn't have to watch games with crap teams on Tday, especially since they are 2nd in viewers to the Superbowl.

It think one of the games should definitely be the Superbowl winner from the previous season. As for the other game, either the Superbowl loser or some form of rotational schedule.

In the AFL days- the Bills played all the time on Turkey day.

Personally- I prefer thet Detroit and Dallas keep it. The hassle of going to aTurkey Day Game at the Ralph would be a serious PITA. Traffic on this day is the worst as is- add in game traffic and it would be a mess.

I would ike to see the game played off of a bye week for the clubs participating- to help make it a somewhat compeditive game. The Lions were overmatched- but having 2 days to prepare for Manning showed.

Bills on Turkey Day- we are 4-4

Thursday, November 23, 1961: Titans 21, Bills 14
Thursday, November 26, 1964: Bills 27, Chargers 24
Thursday, November 25, 1965: Bills 20, Chargers 20
Thursday, November 24, 1966: Bills 31, Raiders 10
Thursday, November 28, 1968: Raiders 13, Bills 10
Thursday, November 27, 1975: Bills 32, Cardinals 14
Thursday, November 25, 1976: Lions 27, Bills 14
Thursday, November 24, 1994: Lions 35, Bills 21

One big hit would be the Turkey day high school games. Attendance would really suffer if the Bills played on that day at home.
