I thought the best part of yesterday's game was the onsides kick! No one was expecting it. It was a great play! :) And, thankfully it worked to the Bills benefit.
Great Play

There's a lesson here. Special teams plays are derived from film study and tendencies. I agree with BF1. That kick came from the same logic as the fake punt vs, Miami, but some were ready to string GW up. I like taking a few shots now and then, especially with a young team. Thats why I'm very reticent to call coach's idiots or call for them to be fired. They study the film and they take their shots. It's impossible from a fan's perspective what they were thinking.Last edited by Captain gameboy; 11-18-2002, 02:52 PM.

"It's impossible from a fan's perspective what they were thinking."
You can say that again...
Actually, on the on side kick, I think we should put one up every other game or so. Not predictablyl of course. On the few times where it would fail, I think that would be made up for by our not allowing teams to cheat back on the KOs.
It would keep everyone "in place" until the ball actually leaves. By then, the KO coverers are moving full tilt while the blockers are just starting back.
I'd like to see more of those and would think that it's strategic value would help any team.Replace Donahoe with Modrak and fire the entire coaching staff!
Then let's go to Disneyworld!
GO BILLS!!!

You know what Wys? Our regular kick coverage has been pretty good of late. I'm surprised and disappointed we still try to kick to the sideline and take the out of bounds penalty. I don't convulse before every kickoff like I used to. Lets kick it deep and cover it. I hate these starts at the 40.

KC's front line was already five yards up field when we kicked the ten yarder. They had to turn around and come back. The odds were with us to recover that kick. Teams are going to be so stupid every other week...but when they are we should take advantage of it.
