Bills D and Henry deserved better ending

DON’T GET ME STARTED remembers the many times I read job advertisements and heard an interviewer tell me, “We are looking for Self-Starters.” Sunday afternoon at Kansas City – the Buffalo Bills were – “Self Stoppers.”
I wrote last week that the “G-Man” – Kevin Gilbride – should dink and donk and give the ball to Travis Henry. He did just that for 3 quarters of winning football before folding the winning hand. He stopped listening to me.
I also stopped listening to Gregg Williams whenever he spoke about discipline on the team. If you recall, a year ago Williams said that he would have the Bills taking fewer penalties; he didn’t want the team to be in 2nd and 15 or 2nd and 25. After all, if the players aren’t going to listen – why should I. The Bills, one of the leaders in penalties in the last two years, were hit with 13 of them Sunday for 139 yards. Two of them were very dumb penalties – Edwards belting the QB after the pass was thrown – and Price belting Warfield after the play was over. The rest? Hey, what’s new. Instead of sack records…..the Bills are hitting double digits in penalties.
Remember that tooth paste commercial a few decades ago? You know the one that had the jingle warbling, “I wonder where the yellow went”……well it was discovered on the Buffalo side of the field as that yellow flag was being thrown at the Bills time and time again. Henry bursts for almost 20 and it’s called back. KC 3rd down passes fall incomplete, but penalties give them more life. The Bills hurt themselves....MORE...
