Delay of game penalty - Trick Play

Anyone else think that was a trick play snap? Notice the HB went behind the center...I just don't think the Phins bought it.

I think they just wanted a delay of game to give Moorman a little more room to work with..

Didn't want to waste a TO.
Someone said "What's he gonna turn out like?" Ha!
And someone else said "Never mind!"

Trick play no doubt! A direct snap to Burns but the fish did not relax so Teague did not snap it as for saving 1 of your 3 first half timeouts forgeduhboutit!

oh wait, are we talking about Blindsoe walking away without calling a TO?

That's the third or 4th time this year I've noticed teams trying to get an extra 5 yards to kick with intentional penalties for Delay of Game.

I've also noticed that the opposing team has always declined the penalty.

Instead of a delay of game, why not false start?? They will blow it dead immediatly and the other team might not catch on that it's an obvious ploy to get another 5 yards.

I remember when the Steelers (under Mularky) with Stewart did that same thing a few years ago. Stewart walked away like he was confused and they snapped it right to Bettis who got a nice gain. Maybe Mularky was thinking of doing the same thing, after all he called it in the first place.

I think it might have been a trick play as well. As for why they didn't call a time out on it, it would have been stupid. It was already maybe 3rd and 18, what the hell was Mularkey going to tell him to do? They should have just snapped the ball anyway. The chance that they would actually MAKE the 3rd down was already low.

I think it was a relatively safe gamble. The problem with trick plays is that the coaches look like geniuses when they work and morons when they don't. An extra 5 yards on 3rd and 19 or whatever it was isn't going to make a difference, so line up for the trick play, and if it doesn't work take the penalty rather than risk a fumble or even bigger loss.
