Trades can best occur when a team uses a strength with depth and depletes the depth by moving a player to address a weakness.

Where are the Sabres apparently deep? In goal!

Trade Biron, and maybe even Noronen, for the best the Sabres can get. Keep Miller, or trade him and keep Biron or Noronen.

Sign a cheap free agent goalie like Bob Essensa- and never play him, but keep him for insurance to the young guy.

The Sabres goalies are the only true tradable strength the team has. They are the only guys who can be moved that will improve the team elsewhere- trading Gratton, Zhitnik, Connolly, etc., will hurt this team. Trading Brown, etc., will have no effect.

anybody on this team can be traded...what do you expect to get for ANY of them?!? that is the question.

Not to me it isn't-

who can we trade that has sufficient value so the team can be traded?

Only the goalies.

Gratton? He's worth far more to this team than he would receive in return. Same with Zhitnik, Connolly, etc.

Can you trade them? Sure. But why?

Why not trade assets to improve the team? We're allegedly stacked at goalie, and we can only have one true #1 goalie. Why not trade the excess assets and get something?

We are stacked in goal.. but you can't expect them to be the next coming of Roy so soon.. one will rise above and become the true #1.. they just need more time.. the avg age of the goalies on this team is like 22.. relax.. you can't demand too much.. it takes time for goalies to mature. They definately show more promise than the other goalies in the league

I agree. So pick 1 and ship the other 2 to help this team in another areas of great need.

We need more than a great goalie to make this team turn around- none of these guys will probably turn into the next Hasek and win games all by himself. Why not get some help?

I don't care who they trade, as long as they keep Miller.

Get rid of Miller while you can get something for him.

That joker could not stop a beach ball. Didn't he lose every game he playred in for the Sabres last season? If hre could have salvaged just 3-4 points we could have made the playoffs last season. And the way Boston played in hte first round, we could have made a little bit of noise.

If you want o go after a vet like Barasso ( he just signed w/St Louis) OK. But Essensa sucks...

That was just an example- I don' care who we sign, as long as he's a cheap veteran goalie.

I just want to see the Sabres get better, and still don't see any alternative other than to trade 2 of the 3 goalies we now have. If we trade 2, we'll need to sign a scrub to back him up.
