Quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe had a solid game against a terrible 49ers defense. Actually, it was one of his best since the Bills played at Miami a few weeks ago. He did a great job executing the no-huddle and the short passing game. Bledsoe was 21/32 for 172 yards and threw 1 touchdown. He took command and moved the offense down the field for points in 5 out of 7 drives, with 3 of them for touchdowns, and never turned the ball over. Shane Matthews had a good game himself in relief. He drove the offense down the field 52 yards for 2:40, completing it with a beautiful 33-yard touchdown pass to Lee Evans. Matthews was 2/3 for 44 yards and 1 touchdown for a whopping 149.3 QB rating. JP Losman came in to finish the game in the 4th quarter and just handed the ball off to run out the clock. Grade: A
Running Backs: Willis McGahee had a stellar comeback after being day-to-day and then questionable on the injury report with a hyper extended knee earlier in the week. Everyone thought that he wasn’t going to play much, if at all. He ran all over the defense and showed no ill effects from the injury. McGahee had 15 carries for 102 yards and ran for 2 touchdowns, but he did lose a fumble. He also caught 1 pass for 14 yards. Shaud Williams came in to give him rest and did a nice job filling in. Williams had 15 carries for 93 yards, including a sweet 27-yard touchdown run. Daimon Shelton had another day with solid blocking. He also caught 1 pass for 4 yards. Overall, it was a great day for the Bills backs. Let’s hope they can keep this up next week against a very tough Steelers defense. Grade: A
