Van Pelt wants to swim with ex-Fish

Former Pitt quarterback Alex Van Pelt has enjoyed working as a color analyst on Buffalo Bills radio broadcasts, but he has a coaching itch he said needs scratching.

Van Pelt said he has left a telephone message for Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt, and he hopes to speak to him about a position on the coaching staff.

To me it appears that Van Pelt because an announcer only because he could not find a coaching position. Who would Bills probably try to get? This is not like a full time position so someone in media could handle it.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. I figured AVP would end up in coaching, and his alma mater is a logical place to get started.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I wish him the best also and I think he would be a great coach also. He was alwasy active on the sidelines and the first to report to Drew when the offense left the field he seems like a real X's and O's kind of guy.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
          It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I hope he breaks into coaching, even if it's with Wanny. Good luck.

Good luck to him. If that's what he wants then all the power to him I say.

I like this idea if Van Pelt leaves!

There's truth to the saying Buffalo is a drinking town with a football problem, where a passionate fan base believes it has more answers than Ken Jennings on "Jeopardy."

I'd rather ask Marv Levy to be new announcer.

I think Marv and Jim would make great announcers.
