Look, he HAS an excuse. He grew up in south Florida and I'm guessing his family are not jet setters. So if you're in FLA, why the f#$k would you EVER get near this craphole Buffalo? I mean, I live here, but it's a craphole. We're totally off the national radar screen. Now if someone grew up in NY and didn't know where say, Orlando or Miami was that would be crazy.

Who said we are complaing? I think it's f'n hillarious that a mentally challenged running back gained over 1000 yds and 10 td's in his first year playing. Especially since he didn't see any significant time until week 5. Like I said, I don't care what he does in a classroom, it matters what he does on the field. And as far as the losing streak go's, everyone was complaining!!!

You need to lighten up. This wasn't about complaining in any way, shape or form. This was just a funny anecdote. I like WM, and am glad he is our RB. I've said in many posts that I think he is a huge part of the reason we are winning.

Just because you don't get near a place doesn't mean you can't know where it is. But the kicker is he said, "I was on the plane flying to Buffalo and saw a bunch of trees and said 'what's up with this'?" You'd think he'd at least have known where it was before boarding the plane. There is no excuse for that.

However, as I posted just before, I could care less about his real world knowledge when it comes to playing football. I just thought this was funny. That's it. Nothing more.

P.S. I think there are a few posters here who I think would take umbrance at your calling Buffalo a craphole.

Your attitude is a big part of the reason that Buffalo is perceived as a "craphole" by many who have never been there. While the economy has been in poor shape for years, and the politicians have hampered its rejuvination, Buffalo has much to be proud of.

It has a nationally renowned theater district, a number of Frank Lloyd Wright structures, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Kleinhans Music Hall, and several other culturally acclaimed institutions. The once beautiful Statler Hilton is under renovation.

Buffalo also has a number of fine colleges and universities, a very nice zoo that is adding major attractions, some quality hospitals and other health care facilities, and two major sports franchises plus a successful Triple A baseball team. A casino should also be coming, either downtown or near the airport.

With its recent announcement of plans to begin developing the warterfront, beginning with a Bass Pro Outdoor World, hotel, and restaurant in the Aud and a nearby Erie Canal Museum, Buffalo should be coming back with a vengence.

Some of its residents simply need to recognize the positives all around them.

It's kind of hard for WNY residents to recognize the positives around them when they don't have decent jobs if they even have one at all. All those things you mentioned are nice but they are not stopping Buffalo and WNY from hemoraging our young people.
We've just had another "temporary" increase in our sales tax as well as paying some of the highest property taxes in the country. As long as we have the current politicains continuing the anti-business climate, Buffalo won't be comming back with a vengence in our lifetimes.

Unfortunately, the negativity of its residents is one of Buffalo's biggest problems. As long as people feel down trodden, hopeless, and victimized, they will be.

I guess there will never be enough collective, positive energy for the citizens and politicians of WNY to stop feeling sorry for themselves and start kicking butt and doing something for themselves.

I haven't lived in Buffalo since '85 and I too miss it terribly. Part of the problem is that the people in Buffalo don't even know what they have. All the attractions that you mentioned are great, but you left out the most important attraction of all ... the Canadian Ballet! I know it's not in Buffalo, but what could be better than getting a $20 (Canadian) lap dance for a $10 (American) investment??? If you want to revitalize Buffalo you've got to promote the right attractions. I can handle going to the art museum and zoo about once a year, but the ballet is worthy of weekly visits.

Unfortunately, I'm locked into this area for another couple of years. My wife's job really dictates where we go, and right now she's under a new contract that keep us here for a few more years. Plus we both have political science degrees, I'm getting a masters in public policy and she's getting one in public administration, which means neither of us would be the least bit desirable in WNY's horrible job market.

I have looked for IT Jobs in Buffalo and have not seen to many. Even on Monster you don't find a lot of Jobs. It is not just a Buffalo thing. It is a NYS thing. Our state legislators are too busy taxing us and spending all our money on some new piece of pork. The entire state govt. is anti business and the largest city in the country is also supposed to be the business capital of the world. Yet New York just piles on tax after tax. Buffalo is not a crap hole. I enjoy visiting there. I have to agree with FTG here and say that it is our politician’s fault. If we hope to stay the business capital of the world we will have to find a way to get a constitutional convention together and put in place some changes in our state constitution.

I will tell you one thing. Anyone planning on voting for Elliot Spitzer for govorner better be ready for things to get worse in New York since he is one of the most anti business Atty. Gen. We have EVER had.

This is actually the opposite of "pork"- pork is when the local politicians get a huge project in their district from the state or federal government. It's about distributed costs with concentrated benefits. Unless you're talking about NYC politicians using Upstate's tax money- then that could qualify as pork.

He's gonna win even if Pataki runs again IMO. If Pataki does not run it will be a landslide for Spitzer. I'll be outta here before then thank God. The extra penny sales tax was the final straw for me. I put my business up for sale and am getting the hell off the sinking ship before it's to late.

That is definitely part of it Opiv37. People that live in NYC have to pay city tax. Now that is all well and good. Then they get to write off their city taxes, property taxes and federal taxes on their NYS taxes.. So NYC gets the tax money from the people of NYC then they also are given state money when in all reality they have already given money to NYC in a round about way by letting people write off said taxes. So now as a bulk of the money from our taxes goes down that way the rest of the state has to endure rising Medicaid payments and rising property taxes while NYC is the beneficiary of much of the tax money.

I was also thinking more like what we do with immigrants in this state. Oneida County just had to up the sales tax to 9.75% because over 50% of Utica is immigrants. Now I have nothing against helping people get on their feet but these people live TAX-free for 6 years while collecting Welfare, Medicaid and Medicare, and all while the crime rate goes thru the roof because there is no Jobs for these people in the area besides Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, Target, … and other retail chains. Well when 50% of the people make below poverty line AND also collect all the free benefits you have to wonder who’s great Idea it was to invite these communities into an area that had nothing to offer in the first place.

i lived in toronto for years and have been to blo many times.

the problem in blo is similar to a problem in canada, the best and brightest up and leave. i left canada for work and a career that i just could not obtain back home, same thing applies in blo.

also, top people and companies just don't seem to relocate to blo, not when places in the south and west have more better young people (many from new york state) and business friendly government, sometimes to the extent of a massive subsidy.

During the piece they chronicled Willis' rise to starting, and part of that rise was Henry's injury this year. They *may* have said something about Henry's future with the Bills being in doubt, but nothing like that was said about Willis.

And I don't remember him saying "a few years" to get healthy either. Cris Carter asked him something about it, and Willis said to him something like you ain't see nothing yet.
