Tied for 3rd in the league in total takeways
2nd in the league in YPG given up.
3rd in passing defense
7th in rushing defense

Special teams was one of the top units in the league.

We have an emerging Wide reciever in Lee Evans.
And emerging running back in Willis McGahee.
offensive line improved every game.

I just can't get my finger on the real problem with this football team.

Can someone help me? :funny:

How many points did the Defense allow? Points per game? League ranking?

Just curious.

Where's the stat that points out getting dominated by second stringers at home?

You might want to look up Drew Bledsoe's name on that one.

Remember? He was responsible for at least 10 of the 29 Steeler points.

That still means our unstoppable D let up 19 points to SECOND STRING PLAYERS. At home... in essentially a playoff game.

Celemnts fumbled the kickoff that was 3 points. And on that other kickoff that went nowhere and then was brought to the 46 because of the face mask led to a score can't remember if it was 7 or 3 but that isn't completely their fault.

The points they gave up, however many you want to justify, don't compare to the numerous times they could have helped the O by just making a stop. 100+ yards to a 3rd string running back?? Come on, that's just pathetic. And it's not the first time the D has done this, need I point out the first game of the season. Yeah, they only gave up 13 in that game, but they failed to step up and make plays when they counted, just like they have done numerous times in the past. Blame it all you want on DB, but this defense has a history of choking as well.

Actually, I was looking for the points given up by just the D and ST. The number you came up with is the average of all points scored against-including returns from offensive turnovers. That should make the D look better without the TO points.

OOO.

So like, the average points allowed per game without Bledsoe throwing Interceptions for TD's? or Fumbles returned for TD's?

Hmmmm, I don't know where I can find that stat.

sorry.

On a otherwise amazing D, breakdowns at crucial times. On O, well, I'm sure you can figure it out.

but our offense+defense put 24 points on the board. Enough to win. You're point isn't valid to discredit the D by essentially saying they lost to 2nd stringers. Take away Bledsoe's interception returned for a TD, then the D did what was necessary to get us into the playoffs.
