Years ago when I started my paint company, I had one employee to
start with. He had experience, a (veteran) if you will. He was fast
(a good arm) but he was sloppy (paint on the glass causing more
clean up time). I hired two new employees (rookies), both with little experience.
Not knowing how neat they were, I just assumed they were slobs.
So instead of putting them on 6 panel doors, or 8 pane windows,
I gave them primer (you can't screw up primer) and directed them to
the sheet rock (sidelines).
When my veteran got sloppy, my next job was on hold until the
cleanup (defense) was done. Job on hold = less money in my hand that day.
(mediocre season record).
I made a business decision after the first day of priming walls (first year on
the sidelines watching). I put the rookies on the 6 panels & 8 panes..
much to my liking, they were not slobs like my veteran.
Then I made another business decision. I put my veteran on the primer (sidelines).
Being fast with his good arm, he got the prep work out of the way sooner,
(QB coach!! lol.) so my rookies could get the finish paint on and complete
the job on schedule without the extra cleanup time. Money in OUR pockets.
It's not good business to bide time with a slob & lose money (playoffs/SuperBowl)
just because you're not sure how the inexperienced employees (rookies) will do.
I would stick Drew on the (primer) and JP Losman on the panels & panes.
If they're ALL slobs, place a "HELP WANTED" ad in the paper (draft).
