Playing an NFL game on Thanksgiving Day is far from ordinary.
Players are still recovering from their games of four days earlier, most other teams are idle, and the Detroit Lions usually win.
"They're always up for it," said Ty Law, cornerback for the New England Patriots who play at Detroit on Thursday. "Those guys come out and beat anybody. We're aware of that. This is their big game. This is their show, their Super Bowl, year in and year out."
In the last eight years, the Lions are 0-4 in the playoffs but 6-2 on Thanksgiving.
