Somewhere in the Northwest, Drew Bledsoe is sitting back and contemplating his football future. His options seem clear. He can accept a pay cut and come back to the Buffalo Bills next season, or he can stand his ground, be cut, and walk defiantly into free agency.
Before deciding, Bledsoe might consider the case of one Jerome Bettis. Watch the Steelers veteran running back in today's AFC Championship Game. Observe his body language. Look in his eyes. Check out the contented smile on his face. Then he might understand that it's not money or pride that drives "The Bus."

Bettis was facing Drew's dilemma a year ago. He was 32, a 12-year veteran past his prime, just like Bledsoe. Pittsburgh wanted to bring in a younger back, Duce Staley, to carry the load.
