    The "Curse of Drew Bledsoe"

It was only six years ago that the New England Patriots were ready to move to Hartford. Six years ago, the Boston Red Sox could only watch in disdain as a mini-New York Yankees dynasty was in the making.

Six years ago, the Boston Celtics appeared poised to be perennially lumped in with the likes of the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards. Now, Boston has become the No. 1 sports city in the nation. New York has become the city of befuddled losers. How the heck did this happen?
It must be the "Curse of Drew Bledsoe.''

Until Sept. 23, 2001, the Patriots had never won a Super Bowl. The Red Sox hadn't won a World Series in 83 years. Those trends didn't appear likely to change. The Patriots had started the season 0-2. The future didn't look all that promising. Coach Bill Belichick's October record with the Patriots was 0-6. The Red Sox, meanwhile, would watch the New York Yankees play in another World Series.

Then came the hit. The hit that would change the sports fortunes of two cities. New York Jets linebacker Mo Lewis leveled a shot at Bledsoe's head on Sept. 23, 2001. Bledsoe developed serious internal injuries and never started another game for the Patriots. CLICK HERE for the rest of the article...

How hot is Boston? New York has a WNBA team and Boston doesn't. Boy, is The Hub going good or what?

BTW Danny Ainge ruined the Celtics.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
            It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I can't agree more. What the heck is he doing to them? Is there any end in site? I heard rumors last offseason that he was talking trades for Paul Pierce.... What a ******. The best player they have had since Larry....

As much as I want Drew gone, I wouldn't say he was their curse. Drew as a matter of fact brought respect to NE. They were the doormats of the AFCE until he came along.

It all started with the Kenny Anderson, Vin Baker deal. Then trading Walker set the team back about 5 years, now there are rumors to try and get Twoine back so who knows what the hell hes doing. We where in the EC finals 3 years ago, looking to be one of the best teams and now we are a joke.

Ainge didn't trade for Baker or Anderson - those were the work of Chris Wallace. Ainge inherited an absolute mess so to be fair he needs a couple years before anyone can say for sure how he's doing.

Bill B wasn't looking to be that good of a choice during that first 5-11 year.

Since we haven't been to the playoffs in five years, who are we cursed by? John Butler? Gregg Williams? Kevin Gilbride?
Someone said "What's he gonna turn out like?" Ha!
And someone else said "Never mind!"

I think it goes back further than that.

Daryle Lamonica or Al Cowlings perhaps.

Why are people in Boston so Obsessed with New York?? I never thought there was Celtics-Knicks rivalry...(i always thought it was Celtics-Lakers). And why is there no mention of the Bruins??? Maybe because no one could explain why they and the Rangers suck so bad, but somehow find a way to spend tons of cash on carappy players.
