BYE-BYE BLEDSOE

Drew Bledsoe's status in Buffalo is similarly unsettled. Coming off a terrible season finale that cost Buffalo a chance to go to the playoffs for the first time since 1999, Bledsoe is hardly a lock to remain the Bills starter. Youngster J.P. Losman appears to be emerging as Buffalo's signal-caller sooner rather than later. Neither owner Ralph Wilson Jr. nor GM Tom Donahoe has said anything even remotely supportive of Bledsoe, who would cost the Bills $4.3 million if they were to release him before June 1. With Bledsoe unlikely to accept a backup role and Losman already working hard with QBs coach Sam Wyche, don't be surprised if Bledsoe is looking for a new employer in the coming months. Could his career come full circle with a Bill Parcells reunion in Dallas?

TRADE-A-BILL

Bills running back Travis Henry almost certainly will have a new team by the start of the 2005 season, but sources told The Post that the Bills will almost definitely hold on to Henry until the draft, unless they are totally blown away by an offer. Donahoe put the minds of Dolphins fans at ease when he recently stated that he would be willing to trade Henry in the division provided he got enough in return. The Vikings are also interested in the Bills' back.

WIND SPRINTS

There are plenty of polarized opinions floating out there about some of the big names on the trading block this offseason, but few are drawing more conflicting vantage points than Buffalo Bills running back Travis Henry and Washington Redskins wide receiver Rod Gardner.
Henry, who lost his job last season to Willis McGahee, is seen in some camps as a quality second-tier back – someone who can get a team 1500 total yards as an every-down guy. In others, he's seen as a poor man's Ahman Green, a player who offers slightly less spectacular production than the Packers running back and comes with the same fumbling issues prior to 2004.

"[Fumbling is] the overwhelming first concern," an NFC executive said of Henry. "People have done their homework on him. The asking price [of a second-round draft pick] is too high. I'd be surprised if they get higher than a [third-rounder]."

.....Don't be shocked if the Buffalo Bills cut quarterback Drew Bledsoe this offseason. The Bills could save a little more than $2 million off next season's cap if they release Bledsoe, who likely would have to sit behind J.P. Losman next season. Losman wasn't able to work himself into the team's equation after breaking his leg during the season.
