Henry's cap number is $1.35 million.

Shelton's is $3 million each of the next 4 seasons (for the acquiring team)

IF the Bills were interested in this deal, I would hope they would ask LJ to re-work his deal a bit. Even if it was a simple restructure where they converted salary to bonus. It wouldn't put much on the cap in future yrs. $3 million to $665,000. That's $2.335 million converted to signing bonus. Spread that out over 4 yrs he has remaining at $583,750/yr and his cap hit in 2005 becomes $665,000 + $583,750 = $1,248,750

Bills save $101,250 on the 2005 cap under this scenario (trading Henry for Shelton)

(Don't need to worry about top 51 adjustment because both players are within the top 51 before and after the trade)

It's up to the Bills FO to see if they like him.....I would only do the deal straight up or get a pick back from Cards. Do NOT give up a pick in the deal

Maybe....maybe not

But, remember that if he doesn't pan out in 2005, the Bills can cut him before June 1, 2006 and still save $3,583,750 - $1,751,250 = $1,832,500 OR after June 1st, 2006 and save the $3 million with $583,750 dead cap in 2005 and $1.1675 million dead cap in 2006.

It's still cheaper than the ridiculous contract that Jennings' is looking for and we are taking a chance that McNally can help this kid develop into the player he was drafted to be. We are also acquiring a versatile OL that has played both G/T and is signed for 4 yrs. Cards gave him a signing bonus last year as part of an extension, do not believe doing a slight re-work to help on 2005 cap would be difficult.

I'll be willing to do this trade :D
