For 2005, Moulds will bank $6.5 million, the total due to him under his existing contract, but the money will be paid in a manner that will allow the Bills to recoup more than $3 million in cap room. Under the existing contract, Moulds was scheduled to receive a $1 million roster bonus and a base salary of $5.5 million. The reworked contract pays him a signing bonus of $5 million and a base salary of $1.5 million.

By placing most of his '05 compensation in a signing bonus, which can be prorated over the term of the contract, the Bills reduced Moulds' salary cap charge from $8.6 million to slightly more than $5 million. more (ESPN) (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=1990017)

Moulds certainly did not take a pay cut wih this new contract and even though he is getting paid same amount this year he certainly benefits for it makes him more difficult to cut if his preformance goes down. It also makes it very unlikely (although I thought it was unlikely before) that the Bills will trade him as some suggested.
