Just for the hell of it, what would you consider the best nickname for J.P., or what should he go by? Might as well go into this since he's the bonafied starter.

After much thought, i'd just go with Jon Paul. It's simple. J.P makes him sound like a little kid.

His nick has no boundaries. I also like the pope. I suppose whatever we hear first from the buffalo media will be his nickname.

they shouldn't call him paco. it's the traditional apodo for francisco, not juan or pablo. the apodo for juan is pepe, and i dunno about pablo.

sure, his family can call him whatever they want, but it would be like me naming my kid samuel and then calling him billy.

***

or if you translate it literally, it would be like me naming my kid john paul and then calling him frank.

"the pope" as a nickname is pretty cool though. even if he's going to croak soon.

I remember reading somewhere that he was named John Paul because his parents liked John Lennon and Paul McCartney so I think his nick-name should be something associated with the Beatles.

If hockey ever starts back up again, Buffalo would have a potential star JP on the Sabres (JP Dumont) and the Bills.

Aztec Warrior
" The real face of college football doesn't wear a burnt-orange uniform. He doesn't have a shiny gold helmet. He doesn't know any of the words to "The Victors." The real face of college football plays on a team with no chance for a BCS bid, and never got more pub than when his school threatened to drop football.

But J.P. Losman still starts every morning with film sessions, clanks barbells off his body each afternoon before winding down with wind sprints and 7-on-7 games. The real face of college football is on a mission: to prove there is more to his sport than what the BCS has to offer.

It's a Thursday afternoon in late June, and Losman is firing up his teammates as they pump out reps in Tulane's cramped weight room. If his boys back in Venice Beach could see him now & At 6'3", 225, he looks like an Aztec warrior, which is to say, nothing like the 175-pound bag of bones that left SoCal five years ago. "

No question his nickname will be Loss-man if he does poorly. I'll leave it to Berman from ESPN to come up with a name....
