All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Hey NHL and NHLPA - look at this and tell me how foolish you are
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
The women I hang out with wouldnt let you close enough to smell their hair.

MLB survived the lock-out, and the NHL will survive the canceled season.
How can you possibly compare the two. The MLB had a fan base before their strike. The NHL is hanging on by strings. There is no way the NHL will be the same after this. Last year the WPBA and Sponge Bob beat the NHL playoffs in the ratings. The NHL wasn't strong before this lockout. Why else were they scrambling on how to fix the game and basically took any TV contract that was thrown at them?
1. If you grew up in area with no hockey (youth/High School) you probably don't care about the NHL. Basketball, Football, and Baseball are at just about about every High School in the USA.
2. If you are a minority, the NHL is probably your least favorite on a list of the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. No one for them to relate to.
3. You are not going to get more fans in cities like Buffalo, Boston, NY, Philly. Everyone there is already a fan to some degree, especially during a playoff run.
When will we accept the fact that hockey is a niche sport with a core of rabid fans, that is largely ignored by the rest of the country? Let's stop trying to convert the infidals and focus on the true fans!
Let's not forget the ****ed up Neilson ratings system. From their own page...
"The way that Nielsen Media Research finds out about who is watching is to measure what a sample of television viewers are watching. For our national ratings estimates, we use a sample of more than 5,000 households, containing over 13,000 people who have agreed to participate. Since there are over 99 million households with TVs in the U.S., it might seem that a sample of 5,000 is just not big enough to represent the nation."
Think about that. Alot of those 5,000 households are in places that ignore Hockey.
I have only met one family in my life that was a "neilson family". If they don't like hockey what can you do.

So why does hockey get low ratings again?
You know who gives a **** about Neilson ratings? The guys who pay the NHL to put their product on their station. So don't even think about coming on here and saying the Neilson ratings are a sham, they are not. Believe me when I say this, people outside of NHL cities really don't care about hockey.
