Ok...I know he aint what he used to be, but if the money was right wouldn't he be a decent compliment to the receiving corps we already have? Thoughts?

ah yes let's sign a 42-43 year old wide reciever who never had much speed, but now has none. No, I'd rather convert Jason Peters to WR than have him now. Now 15 years ago yes.

I don't think he fits into Mularkey's plans.

I hope he just signs a one day deal with the Niners and retires.

He's better than any 3rd WR we have on our roster.

Let's just bring back Andre Reed - he's younger and faster.

Please God no. I respect Rice's former abilities, but not his current abilities.

I agree that he should sign a 1 day contract with SF and retire. At least then SF would have 1 sellout next year.

Even if the Bills wanted him (which I truely hope they don't), I doubt he'd play here. Jerry Rice has been on the west coast his entire career. He's not going to move across the country to play for a team, for a year, that has a rookie QB and an outside shot at the playoffs in 2005-6. Not a good fit. Jerry should retire and get his HOF bid a year earlier.

Dude is 90 years old. He is a waste of a roster spot right now.

HANG IT UP JERRY---> You have every record for receivers in the League and no one will come close to them for a long, long time!!!

Some of the young guys we currently have could benefit greatly by having him around to mentor them.

Jerry Rice will not retire...he'll probably be playing on someones practice squad in ten years.

Let's retire the word 'mentor' around here. Hasn't worked out too well recently.

Do we really need Rice as a deep threat? Seattle barely used the guy. They rode Alexander's back the entire year. How much of a mentor was Rice anyway? Seattle's WR corps had more drops than my cell phone service. Were they so intimidated by his greatness that they got scared around him?

And if he DID come here, what does Moulds do then? It's bad enough he's been relegated to across the middle routes and the occasional deep ball, but Rice? Save the money and build the OL and DL, kicking game and back-up QB positions in that order.

Maybe we can bring in Flutie as a back-up to throw to him. Two 40+ year-olds playing catch. Perfect promotion for old-timer's day.
