They were brought here for their offensive minds and coaching abilities. Especially with grooming QB's and get as much as you can out of them.

They were hired to try and salvage Bledsoe for 1-2 seasons and groom a young rookie QB for the future. They salvaged Bledsoe as much as you possibly can but now it's time for their real defining moment. Now it's time to groom Losman.

The Bills drafted him a QB which most scouting claimed to be the most athletic QB in the draft but one that needed more teaching then the others. Lets see what these guys have in them.

Losman has all the tools but it's MM, TC and SW's jobs to tap into that talent and make him the best QB he can be.

If they can groom Losman into a good NFL QB then our coaching choice would look as if it paid off. If not then it may go the other way.

I know some players there is just no hope for and it's not the coaches fault and it doesn't matter which coach it was. Lets hope Losman isn't one of them players and that our staff is good enough to tap into that talent.

Sometimes the wrong coaches can make or break what a young QB can turn out to become but sometimes there's nothing a coach can do and the QB just has no shot. Lets get the right mixture.

I feel the mental and accuracy part of the QB position is the most important part of a good QB. If they can learn the game and no where to throw the ball accurate an average talent will go further then any QB with better skills and a greater arm.

Great offensive and QB coaches can turn an average talent into a star and great talent into a superstar.

QB's with the smarts and accuracy almost always become better. QB's like...

Montana
Brady
Manning
Pennington
Young
Aikman

None of them have/had the greatest arms in the league but they/were smart, poised and accurate.

The list of strong armed and more touted athletic QB's that failed or didn't live up to expectations go on and on...

* Much better QB's then the others listed and with more success but still didn't live up to expectations and has been average and not great most of their careers.

Jeff George
Rob Johnson
*Drew Bledsoe
Akili Smith
*Kerry Collins
Vinny Testeverde
Todd Marinovich

Without the additions of Manning and Pennington what does the rest of the top list have in common with each other?

None of them were expected to do very much and not rated as the highest QB's in their class but they were some of the smartest and hardworking QB's in the history of the NFL ended up as the most successful QB's in the history of the NFL.

The coaches played a big part of their success. Had some of these guys been drafted or never played for them coaches they might've just been your everyday average QB.

It's time for MM and Co. to show they can be these kinds of coaches and get everything out of Losman as possible.

So if Losman stinks up the joint do you can Mularkey and Co. for failing?

What about TD?

Pennington? Sorry, he just looks a little out of place there.

I said sometimes there is just no hope for the QB but the right coaching can make Hall of Famers out of QB's who wasn't supposed to be.

Some of them QB's that failed might've been great with guys like Walsh, Johnson and Belichek and some of the great ones might've failed had they been drafted by a team like the Bengals.
